Frequently asked questions
How much does a lawyer’s formal notice cost?
It depends on the case (amount, complexity, number of debtors). We give you a clear fee framework from the first contact.
How long does it take to recover an unpaid invoice?
There is no single timeframe: it depends on the debtor's reaction. A formal notice often leads to quick payment; otherwise we start the appropriate procedure.
Can I have a debtor’s accounts seized?
Yes, conditionally. A conservatory attachment can be authorised by the attachment judge. We assess feasibility and act quickly.
What if my client disputes the invoice?
A serious dispute must be handled legally. We analyse the debtor’s position and advise you: negotiate, secure the claim or litigate.
Is an old debt still recoverable?
It all depends on the limitation period and the available evidence. An old debt is not necessarily lost: we first check its admissibility, then the means to enforce it.
Can I recover late-payment interest and a fixed compensation?
Between businesses, the Belgian late-payment rules provide for late-payment interest and a fixed indemnity for recovery costs, in addition to the principal. Your contract or general terms may also include a specific clause. We check the amounts actually due and include them in the formal notice and then in the proceedings.
